1. Dargah Sharif :
Ajmer Sharif is a Sufi shrine and one of the most visited places in Ajmer. The pious Persian Sufi saint, Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti who is well-known for its secular preaching is enshrined here. Many Muslims believe that Moinuddin Chisti was Muhammad’s direct descendant and it was on his request (Muhammad came to his dream) he went to India. He reached Ajmer in 1192 via Lahore and stayed there till his death in 1236 AD.
2. Taragarh Fort :
A historic fort that was established by the Chauhan Dynasty, the Taragarh Fort is perched on the Aravallis and offers a bird’s eye view of the city of Ajmer. Taragarh Fort is claimed to be the first hill fort in Asia, and is very impressive with its solid rectangular shape and rock-strong 4.5 metre walls.
3. Adhai-din-ka-Jhonpra :
Adhai-din-ka-Jhonpra is an ancient temple and a Sanskrit college that was converted into a mosque by the founder of the Slave Dynasty, Qutubuddin Aibak, in 1193. The mosque is popular for the double depth calligraphic inscriptions that adorn its façade. Though most of the ancient temple is in ruins today, the area of the mosque is still used as a place of worship.
4. Ana sagar Lake :
Founded by the grandfather of Prithivi Raj Chauhan, King Anaji Chauhan between 1135 -1150 AD, Ana Sagar Lake is an artificial lake. It is one of Ajmer’s most popular lakes and one of India’s largest lakes. Named after its founder, the lake was founded during the 12th century, after a dam was built across Luni River.
5. Soniji ki Nasiyan :
Ajmer Jain Temple, famously known as Soniji Ki Nasiyan or Red Temple, is a Jain temple and famous for its rich architecture and a marvelous display of Jain concept through golden statues. Constructed in 1865 A.D, its entrance gate is made of red stone which brought from Karauli.
6. Pushkar Lake :
The Pushkar Lake is one of the most prominent spots of pilgrimage as well as the site of the world famous Pushkar Fair. Encircled by numerous temples and ghats (bathing spots), the lake draws thousands upon thousands devotees every year to its threshold, to gain spiritual distinction and attain salvation by taking a dip in its holy waters.
7. Nareli Jain Temple :
Nareli Jain Temple is a sacred Tirtha of Digambar Jains in the suburban area of Ajmer. It is getting popular amongst the tourist for its beautiful architecture and intricate stone carvings which gives both traditional and contemporary look. The temple is made of marble stone and is known for fulfilling wishes and bringing prosperity in life.
8. Akbar’s Palace and Museum :
Akbar’s palace, constructed in 1500AD as the place where he and his troops stayed in at Ajmer, lies in the centre of the town and is a major tourist magnet. It is well known for the museum which portrays the age old military weapons and exquisite sculptures. The museum showcases various aspects of the Rajput and Mughal style of living and fighting. The large black marble statue of Goddess Kali situated in the palace is quite famous.
9. Durga bagh gardens :
The Durga bagh garden was built in 1868 AD by Maharaja Shiv Dan are located in close proximity to the Ana Sagar Lake. These gardens are located at a distance of approximately 50 kilometres from the main city of Ajmer.
10. Clock Tower :
Clock Tower, situated at Church Road, Alwar, is a royal facade of the ancient Rajput reign which gives commanding view of the near by locality.
