ऊटी नीलगिरी की सुंदर पहाड़ियों में स्थित एक सुंदर शहर है। इस शहर का आधिकारिक नाम उटकमंड है तथा पर्यटकों की सुविधा के लिए इसे ऊटी का संक्षिप्त नाम दिया गया है। भारत के दक्षिण में स्थित इस हिल स्टेशन में कई पर्यटक आते हैं। यह शहर तमिलनाडु के नीलगिरी जिले का एक भाग है। ऊटी शहर के चारों ओर स्थित नीलगिरी पहाड़ियों के कारण इसकी सुंदरता बढ़ जाती है। इन पहाड़ियों को ब्लू माउन्टेन (नीले पर्वत) भी कहा जाता है। कुछ लोगों का ऐसा विश्वास है कि इस स्थान का नाम यहाँ की घाटियों में 12 वर्ष में एक बार फूलने वाले कुरुंजी फूलों के कारण पड़ा। ये फूल नीले रंग के होते हैं तथा जब ये फूल खिलते हैं तो घाटियों को नीले रंग में रंग देते हैं। इस शहर के इतिहास की जानकारी तोड़ा जनजाति से मिल सकती है क्योंकि 19 वीं शताब्दी में ईस्ट इंडिया कंपनी का शासन प्रारंभ होने के पहले यहाँ इसी जनजाति का शासन था। ऊटी में तथा इसके आसपास पर्यटन स्थल बोटेनिकल गार्डन, डोडाबेट्टा उद्यान, ऊटी झील, कलहट्टी प्रपात और फ्लॉवर शो आदि कई कारण हैं जिनके लिए ऊटी पूरे विश्व में प्रसिद्ध है। एवलेंच, ग्लेंमोर्गन का शांत और प्यारा गाँव मुकुर्थी राष्ट्रीय उद्यान आदि ऊटी के कुछ प्रमुख पर्यटन स्थल हैं
