Kanyakumari (also known as Cape Comorin) is a town in Kanyakumari District in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. The southernmost town in mainland India, it is sometimes referred to as ‘the Land’s End’.
A popular tourist destination in India, it is famous for its unique ocean sunrise, sunset and moonrise, the 133 feet Thiruvalluvar Statue and Vivekananda Rock Memorial off the coast, and as a pilgrimage centre.Lying at the tip of peninsular India, it is the confluence of the Arabian sea, the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean. It has a coastal line of 71.5 km stretched on the three sides.
The town is situated 20 km south of Nagercoil, the headquarters of Kanyakumari District, and about 90 km south of Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala.

1. Vivekananda Rock Memorial :
Vivekananda Rock Memorial is a popular tourist monument in Vavathurai, Kanyakumari, India. It was built in 1970 in honour of Swami Vivekananda who is said to have attained enlightenment on the rock.

3. Thiruvalluvar Statue :
The Thiruvalluvar Statue, or the Valluvar Statue, is a 133-feet tall stone sculpture of the Tamil poet and philosopher Tiruvalluvar, author of the Tirukkural, an ancient Tamil work on secular ethics and morality. It is located atop a small island near the town of Kanyakumari on the southernmost point of the Indian peninsula on the Coromandel Coast, where two seas (the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea) and an ocean (the Indian Ocean) meet.

The Thanumalayan Temple, also called Sthanumalayan Temple is an important Hindu temple located in Suchindram in the Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu, India. The current temple was built in the 17th century and is famous for its sculptures. The main deity of the temple is Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma in a single form called Sthanumalyam. This 17th-century temple is famous for its architectural grandeur.
5. Padmanabhapuram Palace :
An ancient palace with mesmerizing architecture, Padmanabhapuram Palace is a fine example of excellence of art and craftsmanship. This wooden palace, built in 16th century is sure to allure every visitor with its unparalleled beauty. Located at the foothills of Veli Hills, a part of Western Ghats in Thuckalay, this palace was built by Ravipillai Ravivarma Kulasekhara Perumal of Travancore Kingdom.
6. Bhagavathy Amman Temple :
Bhagavathy Amman Temple is a sacred shrine, located on Sannathy Street in Kanyakumari. It is also known as Kanyakumari Devi Temple, wherein ‘Kanya’ stands for ‘Virgin’ and ‘Kumari’ means ‘girl’. The Hindu goddess residing in this religious edifice is endearingly known as Shree Bhagavathy (Durga); hence, the name – Bhagavathy Amman. Believed to have been consecrated by sage Parasurama, this temple is among the 108 revered Shakti Peethas of the world.
7. Thirparappu Falls :
Tirparappu Waterfalls are located in Kanyakumari district, Tamil Nadu state, India. The Kodayar River makes its descent at Thiruparappu. The water fall at this place is about 13 kilometres from Pechiparai Dam. It is just a 15 min drive from the waterfalls.The river bed is rocky and about 300 feet (91 m) in length. The water falls from a height of nearly 50 feet (15 m) and the water flows for about seven months per year.
8. Mathur Aqueduct :
Mathoor Aqueduct or Mathoor Hanging Trough, is an aqueduct in southern India, in the Vilavancode taluk of Kanyakumari District of Tamil Nadu state. Built over the Pahrali River (also called Parazhiyar), it takes its name from Mathoor, a hamlet near the aqueduct, which is about 3 kilometres from Thiruvattar town and about 60 km from Kanyakumari, the southernmost town of India. It is one of the longest and highest aqueducts in South Asia and is a popular tourist spot in Kanyakumari District.
9. Gandhi Mandapam :
Popularly called, Gandhi Mandapam, this is a major tourist attraction in Kanyakumari. When the Mahatma was cremated, his ashes were collected into 12 different urns and scattered throughout the country. The urn that was brought to Kanyakumari was kept at a spot inside the memorial before immersion.
10. Vattakottai Fort :
Vattakottai Fort is a seaside fort near Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu the southern tip of India. It was built in the 18th century as a coastal defence-fortification and barracks in the erstwhile Travancore kingdom.
