Top 10 Places in PENANG Malaysia – Highlights / Best things to do [Travel Guide]

I came to Penang on 3 separate visits and got to see most of the important places on the entire Island. Thus, it was time for me to provide you my Top 10 list of the best places that have to be on your itinery when you are planning you next visit. Penang has very well preserved much of its history; it can be seen as what Singapore used to be in 1960. The entire old city of Georgetown has been granted world heritage status by UNESCO, which ensures its preservation for the future. Penang has many beautiful museums, beaches, temples, mosques and churches that are worth to be visited. In addition, Penang is a real paradise for foodie travelers. Its local cuisine ranks among the best in the world. All in all, Penang provides you quite a good mix between sightseeing and chillout time.
A few useful tips for people who only stay 2-3 days in Penang:
Places like the national park and Penang Hill require quite some time to visit and should rather be skipped for short visits. However, if you stay longer, it is a great idea to include them. Traveling in Penang was for me the most convenient using Grab Taxi, as it was cheap and highly efficient.
How to reach Penang: Fly from Kuala Lumpur (Firefly/Airasia), Singapore (Scoot/Airasia) or Bangkok (Airasia):

Georgia is a country in the Caucasus region. The country is located between Western Asia and Eastern Europe, on the west Georgia is bounded by the Black Sea, to north by Russia, to the south by Turkey and Armenia, and to the southeast by Azerbaijan. The capital and largest city is Tbilisi.

Although Georgia still isn’t very well known as a destination for a vacation, holiday or city trip, tourism is on the rise because of the country’s climate, topography, rich culture, breath taking nature and various cities. Tourism is an increasingly significant part of the Georgian economy. Georgia offers about 103 resorts in different climatic zone. Tourist attractions include more than 12,000 historical and cultural monuments and over 1800 mineral springs. The Bagrati Cathedral in Kutaisi and Gelati Monastery, historical monuments of Mtskheta, and Upper Svaneti are recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Georgia is also an international transport corridor through Batumi and Poti ports. Tblisi airport provides air connections to many European and non-European cities.

The video shows the top 4 most beautiful places of Georgia: Tbilisi, Batumi, Svaneti and Qutaisi.

Tbilisi is the capital and the largest city of Georgia, located on the banks of the Kura River with a population of about 1.5 million people. The city is founded in the 5th century by the monarch of Georgia’s ancient precursor the Kingdom of Iberia, Tbilisi has since served, with intermissions, as the capital of various Georgian kingdoms and republics. http://georgia.travel/tbilisi

Batumi is the second largest city of Georgia, laying on the coast of the Black Sea in the country’s southwest. Batumi is in a subtropical zone and near the foot of the Lesser Caucasus Mountains. It’s a popular tourist destination known for its varying weather. The city is famous for its historic Old Town. http://georgia.travel/batumi

Svaneti is a historic province in Georgia, in the northwestern part of the country. It’s situated on the southern slopes of the central Caucasus Mountains and surrounded by 3,000–5,000 meter peaks. Svaneta has four of the 10 highest peaks in the Caucasus. The highest mountain in Georgia is Mount Shkhara at 5,201 meters (17,059 feet), is located in the Svaneti. Qutaisi (or Kutaisi) is the legislative capital of Georgia, and also the third largest city. It’s located 221 kilometres (137 miles) west of Tbilisi and the city is the capital of the western region of Imereti. Kutaisi is located along both banks of the Rioni River. The city lies 125–300 metres (410–984 feet) above sea level. Kutaisi is surrounded by large forests to the northeast and the northwest. The low-lying outskirts of the city mainly have an agricultural landscape. The city centre has many gardens.
