TOP 10 DANGEROUS TOURIST PLACES IN THE WORLD
As soon as the world is back to normal, travelling will be one of my top priorities, and I’m sure I’m not
alone in this thought. But, finding the perfect vacation spot is a bit tricky and there are a lot of things to
consider, foremost among these is safety because let’s face it, not all tourist destinations are tourist
friendly. Number one is actually a tourist magnet, but is actually a very dangerous place to visit. Find out
where it is as we give you 10 of the most dangerous tourist places in the world.
Number 10. Honduras
Honduras‘ fascinating Maya ruins, sparkling beaches, and vibrant culture make it a beautiful travel
destination in Central America. But beneath the natural beauty of Honduras is a high crime rate. Most
criminal activity is of the petty theft variety, with pickpockets and purse snatching occurring quite
frequently against unsuspecting tourists.
In addition to high rates of petty crime in Honduras, there's also a growing concern about violent
incidents, such as kidnapping, rape, assault and murder. Armed robbery is a common problem, with
thieves targeting both pedestrians and tourist vehicles.
Murder is perhaps the biggest concern for foreigners. Between 2010 and 2015 Honduras had the highest
murder rate in the world. Areas that see higher incidents of foreigners being murdered include San
Pedro Sula and La Ceiba, with many incidents occurring shortly after the victims arrived. This may be due
to tips obtained from criminal sources that hang out at airport arrival areas. Because of this, visitors are
strongly advised not to discuss the details of their travel plans in public.
Number 9. Kenya
Compared to other African countries, Kenya is a relatively safe place for tourists. Kenya’s remarkable
savannahs, iconic wildlife, and snowy mountain peaks grace many a traveler’s bucket list, but the US
Department of State is currently advising against travel to the country.
First of all, there is a high risk of getting Malaria from this country. Which should be no problem if you
have yourself properly vaccinated before going on your trip. However, mosquitoes aren’t the only
insects you should be wary about. You also need to watch out for biting wasps and scorpions, both of
whom you wouldn’t want to get stung by. Trust me.
Crime is also prevalent there, especially in the big cities, particularly Nairobi. Eastleigh, in Nairobi's east
is considered a high- risk area due to the number of terror-related incidents that have occurred since
2012. Violent crimes have also been known to occur in Buruburu, Kasarani, Mathare, Pangan, South B
and South C. Violent crime in Nairobi is increasing in some suburbs with armed carjackings, kidnappings
and even home invasions.
Number 8. Acapulco, Mexico
Mexico was sure to make the list at some stage right? Although these days it's hard to judge whether
Acapulco or many Mexican cities for that matter can still be considered tourist destinations. Beautiful
beaches, a perfect climate and cuisine that's hard to beat doesn't outweigh being named the 3rd most
violent city in the world.
Acapulco used to be one of Mexico's most prosperous cities and is still one of the country’s most
popular tourist destinations but the high levels of crime mean that tourists and locals are under constant
threat of danger.
The narcotics industry naturally plays a huge role in the city's crime but the tourist population also plays
a big role in the narcotics trade. People do still travel to Acapulco and enjoy themselves, leaving with
positive memories – so not all is bad! Take care of yourself, don't make yourself and obvious target and
you're likely to get on fine.
Number 7. El Salvador
Basking in the Central American sun, catching smiles from locals, and riding world famous surf breaks –
it's hard to believe that El Salvador has one of the highest homicide rates in the world. Although gang
violence is rarely targeted at foreigners, extreme caution is a must to make sure you don't end up in the
line of fire.
It's no lie that crime is a problem in El Salvador, but most travelers get out of the country without
trouble. Around 4,000 murders a year occur on the streets of El Salvador, with gangs taking control of
many areas. The country's capital, San Salvador, is where most of the violent attacks take place, but
some areas are obviously more at risk than others. Needless to say, try to avoid walking at night in these
places, whether alone or in a group.

Top Ten scariest Places You shouldn't Visit
Most of the world is beautiful. We've got beautiful lakes, awesome mountains and sights that would
make most people stare in wonder and amazement.
But that's not all there is to the earth. On this fair green planet, there are also places so scary that you
wouldn't believe that they even exist. Places so scary that only a handful of human beings would be able
to go and come back without a mental breakdown.
And today, we'll be taking a tour of these places. Buckle up for a ride that will scare you into pieces.
10 North Yungas Road, Bolivia
And that is the story of the North Yungas Road, a lonely road that weaves through the jungles of the
Amazon. The road is in Bolivia, and it is surely one place that you shouldn't want to be caught in. But if
you ever have to cross the North Yungas road, you must learn a few things about it.
First off, the road is nicknamed the Death Road. Yes. The Death Road. Generally speaking, you should
avoid areas with such scary names, but if you need more reasons, we've got you.
The road winds through the Amazon at a height of more than fifteen thousand feet. It's a 12-foot-wide
single lane without guardrails. It has limited visibility due to rain and fog, and what's more— about
three to five hundred people die yearly from travelling on the road. Of course, you can ask why so many
people take the road when it is so dangerous. But the road is the only way for rural people to get from
their communities and into the city— so people have no other choice.
9 Nagaro, Japan
Nagaro is just a small village in Japan. And like your regular small village, it has very few people. It has
small shops, small houses, small roads, and even a small hospital. But that's not all about Nagoro.
There a peculiarity that stands the village out, and it's this; it has a life-sized doll population. And that's
not all. The population of the life-sized doll creatures outnumbers the human population about ten to
one. Yes, you heard that right. For every human being, there are ten life-sized dolls.
How did the dolls get there? Were they spontaneous appearances? Did some ghost drop them they?
Were they created by a spell?
Well, no. The answer is more straightforward than you'd expect. The dolls are the work of Tsukimi
Ayano, a resident who started making the dolls whenever her neighbours die or moved away. The
strange and scary dolls can be found on almost every corner of the village in a multitude of everyday
positions. Some are standing, some are sitting, and some are just eating at the local restaurant.
Today, there are about 350 dolls in Nagoro, and there are about only thirty living human beings in the
village, making it a scary place to be.
8 The Blood Falls
At first glance, this glacier in the middle of the Antarctic looks like somewhere a gruesome murder has
just occurred on. What looks like blood— or what looks like blood to the untrained eye, runs down the
glacier in the scariest of ways.
If you'd been told straight out of the blues that this was the sight of a gruesome murder, you'd probably
have believed. It's little wonder the Glacier is called blood falls.
Strangely, the blood falls are an actual natural wonder. The origin of the falls can be traced back about
five million years when the glacier sealed off a microbe-rich lake beneath it. The lake was isolated from
oxygen and light and thus made the water very concentrated both in terms of iron and salt content.
The water's salinity level keeps it from freezing, while the iron provides the colour. It then seeps out
through a fissure in the glacier, and we get to witness the incredible display.
7 Centralia, Pennsylvania
When people imagine the scariest of places, they generally don't think of places in the first world. They
like to have a sense of security that tells them that this. . .despite how scary it is, could never happen
here.
Most times, they are right. Other times? They are wrong.
Centralia is a town in the middle of Pennsylvania. Or at least it was a town. In the 60s, the twin was
bubbling with people and happiness. Its coal mines were prosperous and everyone was relatively happy.
However, the happiness wasn't to last for too long.
In 1962, a mine in the town mysteriously caught fire, and it started to spread rapidly underground
through interconnecting tunnels.
The question, of course, is this; what did the townspeople do when they discovered that their town is
literally ON fire? Well, nothing, for the most part.

10 Hidden Secret Places
Why do we travel? In my case, I do to see the world’s most famous landmarks, like millions of other
people. However, even though these places see millions of visitors each year, there are still parts of
them that remain unseen and only be accessed by a few privileged people, if they can be accessed at all.
Number 1, for example, is a place hidden in plain sight, but nearly all people don’t know that it’s there.
Find out where it is as I bring you 10 secret hidden places.
Number 10. Track 61
Think of it as Platform 9 ¾ of Harry Potter lore, but in real life. But instead of hiding it in something really
obvious, like a railway station, this one is hidden in a hotel.
The Waldorf Astoria is deemed one of the most luxurious hotels in New York. While many more modern
hotels have since been opened over the ensuing years, it has continued to play host to every sitting US
president, from Hoover to Trump. However, people might be unaware that there is a secret train station
located below the hotel, as the hidden platform was built to help President Franklin D. Roosevelt to
inconspicuously travel from the presidential suite to his childhood home in Hyde Park.
Track 61 was an integral mode of transportation during World War II, as the president’s private railway
car could pull up inside the station, and he could take an elevator to gain direct access to the hotel. It is
also believed that FDR used the train to hide his paralysis from the public.
The platform remains in use today, and it can be reached within minutes from JFK Airport. The Secret
Service has been sworn to secrecy regarding some of its features. While the platform is still in working
order, FDR’s custom locomotive now sits abandoned under the hotel.
Number 9. Da Vinci’s Secret Hatch
Travelers are welcomed into Rome a massive statue of Leonardo Da Vinci located at Fiumicino-Leonardo
da Vinci Airport. Yet, there is more to the structure than you might realize at first glance. Despite the 60-
foot bronze statue being unveiled in 1960, a secret hatch located halfway up the structure was not
found until it was renovated in 2006. Workers found two parchments inside the statue. One parchment
detailed the area’s history in classical Latin, while the other listed the attendees from the opening
ceremony.
Leonardo Da Vinci has always been linked to many mysteries and conspiracy theories, but this time, this
hidden compartment inside the statue wasn’t his doing. It is believed both the hatch and parchments
were the brainchild of Assen Peikov, the Bulgarian artist who won the competition to design the work of
art, but of course, that’s just pure speculation.
Number 8. The Cave of the Evil Spirit
Niagara Falls is the umbrella name of the three waterfalls located along the international border
between the state of New York and the province Ontario, and if you find that surprising, you’ll be happy
to know that I only found that out while researching this list. Anyway, located a stone’s throw away
from Niagara Falls is Devil’s Hole State Park, which many people visit to experience the beauty of the
waterfalls. There’s a hidden cave inside the park that was given the nickname “the Cave of the Evil
Spirit” by the Seneca due to their belief that an evil spirit was trapped inside. It was believed that only
warriors who were ready for battle would enter the cave.
The Devil’s Hole Massacre was a battle that took place between the Seneca and British soldiers in 1763.
After the Seneca won the battle, they warned the British of the cave to prevent them from trespassing
on the land. There is also a superstition that anyone who steals a rock from the cave will experience bad
luck.
Number 7. Underground Tunnels of the Colosseum
On average, the Roman Colosseum welcomes around four million tourists every year. Most of them visit
the landmark to view the Flavian Amphitheatre, which dates back to AD 80. Yet, what many people
don’t realize is that there is a network of underground tunnels below street level, called the Hypogeum,
which were used to house various animals, such as lions and bears, which were then lifted into the
gladiator arena via a pulley.
The maze was hailed as a superb archaeological discovery when it was initially uncovered. The
Hypogeum is now exposed and open to the public, but tours are limited to a maximum of 25 people
each time. Archaeologists have, however, criticized the tours, as they believe they could put the
structure at risk.

10 Places That Cannot Be Visited
People now have the ability to travel to all kinds of places. Well, naturally, not right now because, you
know, 2020, but you know what I mean. But there are places that you won’t be able to set foot on
anytime soon, just like number one on our list, which is a place I bet you wouldn’t even dare visit even if
you were allowed to. Here are 10 places that cannot be visited.
Number 10. Snake Island, Brazil
The Ilha da Qeimada Grande, better known as Snake Island off the coast of Brazil is an island so
dangerous that the Brazilian authorities have made it illegal for anybody to even approach it without
authorization, and with good reason; the island is home to the largest concentrated population of one of
the most venomous snakes in the world – the golden lancehead viper. Lanceheads are not very large
snakes, growing to an average of just a foot and a half long, but they pack quite a punch. Any human
bitten by them could be dead within an hour, if not administered with the proper anti-venom. The island
is so densely packed; it is estimated that there are anywhere between 2000-4000 lanceheads living
there at any given time.
Local people believe that the lanceheads were introduced to the island by pirates to guard a horde of
treasure that they left there. These slithering deterrents were so effective that it’s believed that the
treasure is still there, it’s original owners unable to retrieve it, because of the snakes that they
themselves left there to protect it.
Number 9. Ise Grand Shrine, Japan
There are certain places that are forbidden everybody in general. However, there are some who can
only be entered by a select few; scientists, military officials, priests, or members of the royal family. This
is one such place.
The Ise Grand Shrine is one of the holiest places in Japan dedicated to the goddess of Sun, Amaterasu. It
is a huge complex consisting of more than 100 temples or shrines. The main temple is surrounded by a
high wooden fence, and the only ones allowed to enter are priests and senior members of the royal
family.
While the location of the shrine is said to date back to the third century, the standing structures have
been dismantled and replaced every 20 years — most recently in 2013 — consistent with Shinto beliefs
regarding death and renewal. One of the main shrines is believed to house the ‘Sacred Mirror,’ called
Yata no Kagami, part of the Imperial Regalia of Japan. From outside, little can be seen except a fence and
the buildings’ thatched roofs.
Number 8. The Vatican Archives
The Holy See has always been shrouded in mystery, and has always been at the sights of people who are
wondering about the secrets that lie within its holy walls. Thousands have claimed that the pope has
information, and even evidence to some of the greatest mysteries in the world. From the existence of
aliens and demons to the deepest darkest secrets of the world’s biggest religions, conspiracy theorists
have long speculated what is kept secret in the Vatican Secret Archive.
In recent years, it has been revealed that the Vatican Archives is home to some of the rarest and most
historical items in existence which includes a 60-meter-long scroll of parchment containing the minutes
of the infamous trial of the Knights Templar, a letter penned by then Pope Leo X excommunicating
Martin Luther, a letter to the pope from Mary Queen of Scots imploring him to intervene and stop her
execution, which was obviously denied, and letters from Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis, both non
Catholics, representing both sides of the Civil War, each asking for Pope Pius IX’s support in the war.
Unfortunately, only a select few has access to these priceless artifacts of human history.
Number 7. Area 51
No list of prohibited places would be complete without a mention of Area 51 — the nickname for a
remote detachment of United States Air Force facility Edwards Air Force Base, located in Southern
Nevada. The facility is shrouded in secrecy and while it has long believed to be a testing facility for
experimental aircraft and weaponry, conspiracy theorists favorite theory that the base is where the U.S.
government examines and stores a crashed alien space craft and the alien occupants, including evidence
from a supposed alien crash landing in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947.
Area 51 was created during the Cold War between the US and the Soviet Union as a testing and
development facility for aircraft, including the U-2 and SR-71 Blackbird reconnaissance planes. Although
it opened in 1955, its existence was only officially acknowledged by the CIA in August 2013.
What goes on inside is extremely secret.
I get it that we area all stuck at home right now and some of us won’t be traveling for a while.. but I’ve always had a sense of Wanderlust… so for me, imagining a life without travel is not acceptable. So, I wanted to use this episode to help you to get excited about travel, and maybe even add a couple spots to your life adventurist list!!!
