Belgium, a country in Western Europe, is known for medieval towns, Renaissance architecture and as headquarters of the European Union and NATO. The country has distinctive regions including Dutch-speaking Flanders to the north, French-speaking Wallonia to the south and a German-speaking community to the east. The bilingual capital, Brussels, has ornate guildhalls at Grand-Place and elegant art-nouveau buildings.

It is considered to be Europe’s first covered shopping arcade it offered a luxury retailers and luxury outdoor cafes that could work year around
despite the Belgium climate.

8. Basilica of the Sacred Heart
The biggest Art Deco Church in the world.

7. European Parliament
One of three EU parliament buildings. One is in Brussels, one is in Luxembourg and one is in Strasbourg. It is kind of complicated.

6. The Belgian Comic Strip Center
In great building made by architect Horta is a museum dedicated to Belgian comics including the Smurfs and Tin Tin.

5. Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula
Roman Catholic Church built in Gothic style that took more than 300 years to build. It is used by Belgium Royalty for coronations, weddings, funerals and other important occasions.

4. Atomium – Brussels landmark
Supersized model of an atom of an iron crystal. It was built in 1958 for World’s Fair Expo when everyone was talking about the future, about atomic age. Its spheres are housing different exhibitions.

Hill above the historic city centre that still serves as a place for royalty. For
last seven hundred years they controlled the city from the royal palace. In this are are also many galleries and museums.

2. Manneken Pis – Brussels landmark
Bronze fountain sculpture of naked small boy urinating is the most iconic landmark of Brussels, made in 1608 that was stolen many times.

1. Grand Place – Brussels landmark
One of the most beautiful medieval squares and the hearth of the city. The biggest building and the marvel of Gothic architecture is the Town Hall with its 96 meters or 315 feet high tower.
