Lakshadweep is a tropical archipelago of 36 atolls and coral reefs in the Laccadive Sea, off the coast of Kerala, India. Not all of the islands are inhabited, and only a few are open to visitors (permits required). The Bagrati Cathedral in Kutaisi and Gelati Monastery, historical monuments of Mtskheta, and Upper Svaneti are recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

The city lies 125–300 metres (410–984 feet) above sea level. Kutaisi is surrounded by large forests to the northeast and the northwest. The low-lying outskirts of the city mainly have an agricultural landscape. The city centre has many gardens.
